I am happy to announce, and bid welcome to our new project and website ListWoo.com!
ListWoo is a list management website. It's a free service, that allows you to create, maintain and share lists online. Besides allowing you to maintain your personal lists, the website contains a library of popular lists publicly available (e.g. top 10 lists). All public lists are interactive, and our visitors may read them, learn from them, be entertained by the them, and interact with them. Interacting in the form of voting. ListWoo is based on crowdsourcing. That's why we keep the tagline "lists, the crowdsourced way"!
Supported list types
The lists come in various flavours. Currently ListWoo supports 3 types of lists:
- Lists: Static lists. Items have a fixed sequence, you determine. Good for representing prioritization.
- Checklists: Fixed sequence of items, where each item is checkable. You mark items as either checked or unchecked. Practical for todo-lists etc.
- Polls: Sequence of items, where items are sorted by the number of points (sum of all votes), high to low. Usable for settling on decisions within a group of people.
Personal use
One part of ListWoo is dedicated to personal list management. It allows everyone to maintains his/her own lists. Examples: It could be a list of places you'd like to visit. It could be your packing list. It could be the list you used with your family, to figure out jointly, the destination of your travel.
The examples above, covers the different types of lists supported by ListWoo. The basic list would be useful for storing the places you'd like to visit, that list is a static prioritized list. The packing list could be handled by a checklist, making it possible for you to check items, as you've made sure it has been taken care of. And the collective decision made with the family, could be handled by using the poll.
After creating a list, you become the manager of that list. That allows you to edit the lists. Nobody else. People you share lists with can't edit the lists, without you giving them the permission.
Content holder for Twitter.com
Using Twitter.com? Then you know that Twitter is limited to 140 characters. That restriction doesn't fit certain content types, images being a good example. Images are supported in the Twitter-universe by 3rd party service providers. Twitpic.com is one such 3rd party provider, functioning as a content holder for images. ListWoo.com is such a content holder, if you like to share lists, polls, checklists etc. using Twitter. Besides storing lists, ListWoo will also generate Twitter-friendly URLs for you. It will ensure that the generated URLs are kept very short, and suitable for tweeting.
Try out ListWoo, next time you feel like tweeting a list on Twitter!
Road map
Until now, we have spent time developing that main features, minimizing the UI, maturing the system, and generating content, for everyone to enjoy. Next, we'll need to spent some time marketing the service. For this task we would appreciate your help, spreading the word!
Besides marketing, we'll be adding more features. Next feature scheduled is support of user profiles. That would make voting more traceable, opening possibilities for displaying how individuals (in a group) have voted - an optional feature, that you could choose to use for a closed poll.
Well, the road map is open for suggestions. If you choose to go try the service, please give us some feedback. Tell us, what you like, what you don't like, suggestions etc. We're listening and will be grateful for your input.
